The Crabapple Path

Sold

This crabapple was planted by the council and is so annoying, it completely blocks the path, so often you either have to walk on the road to get past it or you get slapped by it as you wheedle past. But it is so breathtakingly beautiful when it flowers. It is funny how sometimes we need these things that may seem cumbersome and in the way to literally stop us in our tracks and appreciate life.

Painting size 73.8 x 73.8 x 2cm
Framed 76.8 x 76.8 x 4cm
Acrylic on stretched canvas, with painted white Tasmanian oak frame.

Flowering Gum Limited Edition Print

Limited Edition Print

During this period of isolation there have been some lovely moments. My favourite thing, has been walking with my family. Each day, rain or shine, we have gone walking or cycling and I have loved it (accept the cycling, I am the lady almost falling off regularly).
During these times the kids have discovered the joy in photography, so while we walk we take interesting pictures along the way. It has brought a new observance of my surroundings that I didn’t have before. Right up the road we discovered these beautiful flowering gums. They were so breathtaking in their complexity and beauty. While it is difficult to capture what true beauty the possess it was fun (and time consuming) to try.

Giclee print is on 100% cotton rag 310gsm, archival.
50 x 50cm
60 x 60cm with 5cm border

Persistent Swallow

This artwork is part of my splatter art series. It brings me so much joy, to literally throw paint on the canvas, and is a At our local shops there are the most adorable little swallows that roost in the eves. The Resilience Tree

Commission, Sold

There is local tree in my neighbourhood that some might think is ugly. It has been planted in the wrong spot, under power lines and then been hacked at, time and time again and has grown into the most obscure shapes.
But when I see this tree I am astounded and inspired. I have painted it in my art multiple times because I am fascinated by its beauty, by the shapes it has grown into as it has adapted to the life it has been given.
This tree is amazing, it has lived for over my 40+ years, it continues to thrive despite its circumstances, no matter how many branches have been lopped off, no matter that it is bent sideways, no matter that it is at crossroads, no matter that its roots are bound by the roads and paths; this tree must have deep roots and a firm foundation. It stands strong in all its beauty, ugliness and awkwardness. This is a tree that I look at constantly and admire.
This tree is by far the most interesting tree around.

This is painting is home to 23 local birds and 1 iddy biddy lizard. Try and find them all.

The Resilience Tree was commissioned by and has been enlarged by Hornsby Hospital to fit a wall 4.7 x 2.8m, but this is the original painting.

It is framed in a floating frame.

This is Life (Orange Butterflies)

Sold

This is a part of the “This is Life” series of paintings… Sometimes the troubles of this life accumulate on me, overwhelming me and overcoming me and I want a break, I want it to stop, to ease up, for the burdens and the pains to be lifted. But do you know what…this is life. It is easy to look around and think that others have it easier than we do, and sometimes that is true, but sometimes it isn’t, the pains of this life are hidden so often by a facade, that make us believe that it should be easier than it is.My family has had a run of one disaster after another, over the past six months, but amongst that there is beauty, there is joy and there is hope. This painting has been about adapting, healing the past, looking toward hope, but seeing joy in the day to day, in the weeds that have abounded in the rain, in the rain itself, in the birds that wake me in the morning. When I stop and listen, moment by moment, I can keep putting one foot in front of another and enjoy the journey.

A Fresh Start

Sold

This is part of a beautiful local bush walk, behind a major Sydney hospital. You would never know such beauty exists, so hidden and so gorgeous behind a car park. It is also a local hang out for a variety of owl species.
I find it endlessly inspiring, due to its lushness and the juxtaposition of it being so close to the highway. It is interesting how this oasis can be found so close and so many are unaware of it.

A Moment

Sold

This piece is part of my “abstractish” series. It is one of the most fun series I have ever painted. I start by literally throwing paint on the canvas (usually with one of my sons), over and over and over again and then paint what comes from it.
I love the freedom of painting this way, and I feel like the joy that I experience translates onto the canvas.
Comes in a (lovingly made) painted white Tasmanian oak floating frame.

Another Day of Hope…

Sold

Hope… a fresh start, a new beginning, spring to come…lessons to be learnt, patience to be developed, perseverance, resilience, family, connection, change…
This painting is in a series of what I call “Abstractish”. It is my sweet relied from the confines of commissioned work and trying to please. I literally will through paint on a canvas (this one with my youngest son) and then bring out the beauty that comes from it. The joy that I feel doing these paintings is immense and is immense.
I have recently added this Lorikeet, from a photo taken of this gorgeous and brazen lorikeet that my eldest son and I discovered when out for a walk. We came within a metre of it, but it was determined to stay and gets in nectar feed.

This painting comes with a floating frame (made by me) in white painted Tasmanian oak.
