He Restores My Soul

Originals For Sale

$1890

On The Great North Walk, there is this amazing spot where you come out of this dense, dark tree covered area and you step into the light.
As I battled through my overthinking this past week, this painting took me through the journey also. It really felt like I was in the darkness and I needed to see the hope and light on the other side.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing . He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul.

Grateful

Originals For Sale

$1900
I have always tried to be grateful to be surrounded by such spectacular beauty so close to home, but recently I learnt that lower socioeconomic areas are likely to have less green spaces available to them. In my ignorance I hadn’t realised it was also a sign of privilege.
How often do we take for granted the beauty that surrounds us? How do we make these spaces more common, available and accessible for everyone?
This painting is based on a section between Galston gorge and Crosslands along the great north walk. It is such a beautiful bushwalk!
Let us not take this privilege for granted and be grateful.

Mornings in Galston

Originals For Sale

$7500

Each morning, we drive past a flock of birds feeding on someone’s generosity. It is always a variety of birds coming together to feed, and the sight always fills me with pleasure and such a reminder of God’s gifts to us.
It is such a joy, watching as the sun comes up over the fields and trees. A pretty great start to the day!
This painting was painted first on individual canvases, then sewn together to represent the various days, times and variations in weather and sky, but the birds unite them all.
How many birds can you find?

190 x 140cm (it’s a big one)
Mixed media on multiple canvases sewn together

This painting is a part of my motherhood and splatter painting series. The quilt like pattern in the background represents motherhood for me:many parts, both good and bad, intricately woven together to make something beautiful.

This is Life Series: Fresh Start

Originals For Sale

$990

This is a part of my splatter paint series.

Painting these is pure joy: I literally throw paint on the canvas and then paint what the painting shows me.

This painting subtly contains the bible passage: See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19.
My hope and prayer is that this year is a new and fresh start, with strength, peace and good health.

Mixed Media on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Some Things Don’t Need to be Fixed

Originals For Sale

$3800

I have heard it said that being a parent, is having your heart living externally to your body.
I don’t know how to parent and I have made a lot of mistakes, but what I do know is that I love my kids more than seems possible.
My kids have their own struggles and it is so hard to know when to step in and step back.
This painting is about my experience as a Mum wanting desperately to fix it, to take the burdens from my kids, to make it better and then hearing a whisper deep in my soul, “some thing’s don’t need to be fixed”.
An ode to neurodivergence.

Birds Interrupt Me

Originals For Sale

$1700|

How often do we wish we could do/be something else, to not be authentically ourselves?
It is easy as an artist to look at others and want to be like them. I often look at beautiful, restful, simple, abstract art and wish I could do that. I recently saw some beautiful simplistic art and all I could think of birds flying in, and lego figures vaulting. Truthfully, no matter how much I would sometimes like to, I can’t escape myself.
Welcome to my world, where…birds interrupt me.

Simply Complicated: Discoveries While Walking

Originals For Sale

$900

Simply Complicated
Life seems so simple
Yet the juggle is so complicated
But what matters is so simple?

I was painting this while juggling all that life’s throws at me and was struck by art imitating life. I thought when I started this painting, at first glance it was much simpler than my usual flower and yet the more I painted the more complexity I discovered!! What beauty in the simplest things we find.

How amazing is this little discovery? But the more you look at it the more you discover it’s extraordinary complexity.

Beeautiful Bee

Originals For Sale

$1400

I have become a bit obsessed with bees. When my family and I go for walks we spend a lot of time watching the busy bees doing their thing. They are amazing and without realising we actually rely on them for survival, but we walk past them, everyday doing their work. Thank you God for the busy bees.

I will be doing a mini series of these busy bees. 4 minis and one 76 x 76 cm.

Acrylic Paint on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

The Cliffs of Zenith 2

Originals For Sale, SALE

$1000

I am not the most commercial artist. To be commercial you are supposed to paint in a similar style so that your art is recognisable, I am not so good at that because I paint my life and my moods, so my paintings tend to go up and down with my life.
I did read a great article about the reason to paint the same things over and over…to learn from! What a good idea…maybe a good thing for life also?? Learn from past mistakes??? Maybe??
76 x 76cm
Acrylic on Linen Canvas
Framed in painted white, Tasmanian Oak, floating frame (made by me).

I always contemplate life as I paint, and I was really struck while painting this one in particular. If you were to come in part way through and check out my painting you would think it was pretty terrible, you wouldn’t see the process I was going through to enable the beauty to develop.
Our life is not simple and it would be pretty easy to look at it and think what a mess! Someone messed this up! I know that God has His vision and purpose for our lives, that He sees the completed picture and the process we must go through in order for it to be made complete.

Ink Study 3

Originals For Sale, SALE

$75

Life has been getting in the way of art, but I have been still desperate and longing to create.
So I tried something different.
I love the flow and organic nature of ink and water. I love how it changes over time, with water and as it dries. I love the shapes it creates. I really enjoyed giving abstract a go also. It is actually almost harder for me than realistic art. Did it work or not…you be the judge.
This painting would be beautiful framed with others in the Ink Study range. Spread across the wall of a hall, or a long room.
